Cafe Americain- Old Sacramento Business Profile
I took some photos for an article being written about Cafe Americain, a champagne and caviar restaurant/bar/club in Old Sacramento.
This is the outdoor eating area and entrance,
and then once you go inside to the main dining room, it feels like you’re entering a Russian Tea Room.
The red ceiling and fluorescent chandeliers are overwhelming, and color everything else in the room.
They gave me some of their caviar based appetizers to photograph,
and then I went downstairs to the “speakeasy style” bar and club in the basement.
They furnished the place with all different kinds of vintage and antique furniture.
The basement was once part of the walking tour of Old Sacramento because apparently, the top of this exposed wall was the original Old Sac street level.
Down the hall is the main bar,
and then there’s another long hall with chandeliers, curtains and settees along the wall that provide barely enough lighting to create the ambiance of an old speakeasy.
It’s a pretty interesting place, definitely unique to Sacramento!

The interiors remind me of Seattle (we did a “Ghost Walk” tour there.) Great food/beverage shots, Leslie. Your work is impressive.

Thanks for the complement! I’ve heard of that tour in Seattle, I’ll have to check it out next time I’m there. It was a pretty interesting place
